Newfoundland Cannabis Store Closes Amidst Supply Shortages

As of January 31, Newfoundland and Labrador will go from having six independent cannabis retailers to having five, as one of the original licensed retailers closes its doors.

Tina Greening, the business manager of Puff Puff Pass Head Shop in Clarenville, says the decision to close less than four months after nationwide cannabis legalization came after months of fighting for better stock access and the ability to sell products that would allow the store to be profitable.

She contends that the issues leading to the store’s closure range from a lack of approved producers for the province, restrictions on the other products the store can sell, and preferential treatment by producers toward licensed retailers owned by large companies.
