Rapper B-Real opens “Dr. Greenthumb”

Rapper B-Real, who previously opposed marijuana legalization is opening his very own recreational marijuana dispensary

B-Real (Louis Mario Freese), is the lead rapper in the hip-hop group Cypress Hill and one of two rappers in the rap-rock supergroup Prophets of Rage.

He advertised on Friday that there will be “an all-day blowout” at Dr. Greenthumb in Sylmar, California.

Before the November 2016 election, he opposed Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act.

Proposition 64 is the act that legalized marijuana for adults 21 and over. It also began the process for regulated commercial storefronts like Dr. Greenthumb.

In October 2016, he stated that Proposition 64 is a doorway for drug cartels.

“IT HELPS KEEP THE DRUG CARTELS IN BUSINESS,” “SETS UP HUGE GROWING OPERATIONS FOR RICH WHITE PEOPLE, DESTROYING SMALL BUSINESSES” AND “TURNS RIGHTS INTO PRIVILEGES.”

To add insult to injury he then posted a photo stating “This is NOT Legalization. VOTE NO”.

However, he has shown a major change in heart, by first applauding California on its achievement in legalizing the substance.

“ALTHOUGH I’M SOMEONE THAT WAS AND IS CONCERNED ABOUT PROP 64, CALIFORNIA MADE HISTORY TONIGHT AND TO THAT I TIP MY HAT.”

In a press release, he explained that he opposed the Proposition because of the regulations and taxes associated with it.

However, thanks to  Amendment 64, B-Real will be able to sell cannabis to adults over 21 years of age even if they do not have a doctor’s recommendation.

“I NEVER CHANGED THAT STANCE, BUT I DO HAVE A BRAND THAT MYSELF AND MY PARTNERS HAVE BEEN BUILDING FOR A NUMBER YEARS IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY ASIDE FROM MY OVER 20 YEARS OF ADVOCACY.”

He added,

“MY INTENTION WAS ALWAYS OPEN A SHOP WHEN THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY PRESENTED ITSELF AND THAT WE COULD BE FULLY COMPLIANT [SIC]. THIS WOULD ULTIMATELY ALLOW ME TO HAVE A LANDING PLACE FOR OUR BRANDS IN THE CANNABIS COMMUNITY FOR RECREATION AND MEDICINAL CONSUMERS.”

The artist plans to use some of the proceeds from the new business to give back to the community and create programs for the youth.
